Renegade Army is a Counter-Strike 1.6 community with roots going back to 2011. What started as a small community in Canada grew into a long-running project built around servers, custom gameplay, friendship and a love for one of the most iconic FPS games ever made.
Renegade Army was established in 2011 in Canada, during a time when Counter-Strike 1.6 was still at the heart of a huge online gaming community.
The idea was never simply to run a server and leave it running. Renegade Army was created as a community — a place where players could meet, play together, build friendships and come back day after day.
Counter-Strike 1.6 became the foundation of everything. Over time, the community developed its own servers, custom gameplay, maps, plugins and systems. Renegade Army became more than a server address; it became a name that players recognized.
The community eventually went offline and remained inactive for several years. But the project wasn't forgotten.
In late 2025, Renegade Army returned.
The new version was rebuilt from the ground up, bringing the original spirit back while introducing modern systems, persistent accounts, progression, customization and a much larger focus on community interaction.
The goal of the relaunch is simple: preserve what made Counter-Strike 1.6 special while giving players something new to discover.
Renegade Army has passed through several hands over the years. Each owner brought their own ideas, direction and contribution to the community, helping shape what Renegade Army became.
Hatch was the original owner of Renegade Army, establishing the community in 2011 and laying the foundation for what would become the Renegade Army name.
Following Hatch, Lasse took over the community and continued its development, keeping the Renegade Army name and community alive.
Klaathax became the next owner of Renegade Army, carrying the project through another chapter of its history.
Wrath took over the project and brought Renegade Army back to life in 2026. The relaunch began a new chapter, with the community rebuilt from the ground up and expanded with new servers, custom systems, player accounts, progression, website integration and a renewed focus on the community.
